What makes a relocation fitout different

A relocation is governed by dates outside the fitout itself: the expiry of the existing lease, the make-good obligations on the old premises and the day the business has told its staff and clients it will be operating from the new address. The fitout programme has to be built backwards from that move date and leave time for furniture, data and audiovisual installation after the built works.

The new tenancy also has its own conditions. Base-building approvals, landlord fitout requirements, shutdown windows for services connections and lift and loading-dock access all have to be secured before the critical path can be relied on.

How DYME plans a relocation fitout

Early scope review aligns the design documentation, the landlord’s fitout guide and the relocation plan, including which items are being moved from the old office and which are new. DYME identifies the approvals and long-lead items, such as joinery, glazed partitions, workstations and specialist services, and releases them first so that the move date is protected.

The programme sets a built-works completion milestone ahead of the move, with defined windows for furniture delivery, technology installation and client testing. Where the business needs to operate from both premises briefly, those overlaps are planned rather than improvised.

Delivery, handover and the move

On site, trades are coordinated within the tenancy and the interfaces with base-building services are managed with the building manager. Commissioning records and defects are closed out before furniture arrives, so the final weeks are spent on installation and testing rather than on built-work rework.

DYME coordinates with the removalist, furniture and technology suppliers on access and sequence through the final stage. For a Sydney or NSW office relocation enquiry, share the new address, floor area, design stage, landlord documentation, lease and move dates, and a budget range.

Common questions

How far ahead of the move date should the fitout be finished?
Long enough for furniture, data and audiovisual installation and testing to take place in a completed space. The programme sets a built-works milestone ahead of the move and plans those installations into the gap.
Does DYME handle the make-good of the old office?
Make-good is a separate scope, but it can be coordinated alongside the relocation so that the exit from the old premises aligns with the lease expiry.
Can furniture and equipment from the existing office be reused?
Yes. The relocation plan identifies what is being moved, and the new layout and services are set out to receive it.
